Frequently Asked Questions

What time are your Sunday Worship Services?
Our 8:30 a.m. worship service takes place in the Fellowship Hall in Calvary’s Recreation Outreach Center. It is a contemporary service where dress is casual, music is contemporary, and coffee, juice and doughnuts are served before and after the service. Our 10:45 Service is contemporary service geared more toward our college students, but you don't have to be a student to come. There is not a 10:45 service during the summer months. Our traditional service takes place at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary. The sanctuary choir leads in worship with traditional hymns and the service is more liturgical. Our pastor, Dr. Robert Baker, offers the same wonderful message at both services.

How do I get to Calvary?
Calvary Baptist Church is located at 150 East High Street in downtown Lexington, Ky. at the corner of Martin Luther King Boulevard and East High Street (at the viaduct).

Where should I park?
There are several parking lots adjacent to the church property. Please scroll down to see the map below for parking locations.

Is there childcare?
Yes. There is childcare for birth through pre-K age children during both worship services. Experienced childcare workers lovingly supervise children. Security stickers are provided to parents who drop off preschoolers and a sticker with a matching number will need to be displayed when picking up. In addition beepers are provided to parents of young preschoolers.

How can we find a Sunday School Class?
There are Sunday School classes for birth through senior adults beginning at 9:45 a.m. Birth through Kindergarten classes meet in Education Building 1 (EB1) which is the building adjacent to the sanctuary building. Elementary age classes meet on the second floor of Education Building 2 (EB2) which is just across Rodes Ave. from the sanctuary building. Preteens (6th graders) meet in the basement of EB2 and grades 7-12 meet in the lower level of the sanctuary building. For more information you may visit the welcome desk on Sundays. It is located on the first floor of EB2 just inside the Rodes Avenue covered walkway.

What goes on at Calvary on Wednesday nights?
On Wednesday evenings our church family meets for our regular Wednesday night fellowship dinner in the ROC Fellowship Hall. Dinner is served from 5:00 pm til 6:00 pm and cost is $5 for adults, $2 for students and children, and $1.50 for a kid’s meal (hamburger or hot dog, chips, and ice cream).

At 6:05 p.m. children 3 year olds through grade 5 have children’s choir practice. At 6:30 the children begin missions study. For youth there is a Wednesday night Bible study called Renovations in the youth lounge at 6:15. College Bible Study takes place from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. at our High Point College Building at the corner of ML King and Maxwell. For adults, there is a 5:55 p.m. prayer and praise service in the Fellowship Hall followed by adult discipleship classes from 6:15 until 7:00 p.m. Children and youth adjourn at 7:20 p.m. Free childcare is available for birth through age 2 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:15 p.m. on the first floor of EB1. Also on Wednesday nights, the sanctuary choir practices from 6:30 til 8 p.m. in the music suite on the second floor of EB1.
