Study: Understanding Islam 8/24

Islam, Muslims & Extremist Ideologies is a three week study that began on 8/24 and is being led by Dr. Roy Fuller, Professor of World Religion at the University of Louisville. The first night was an overview of Islam and its basic teachings.  Week 2 will be an examination of the differences between Sunni and Shia branches and the emergence of extremist ideologies within Islam.  Dr. Fuller will also share how the rise and fall of Islamic empires have impacted the way Muslims understand themselves today.  On September 7th, the final week of the study will be a survey of the teachings and claims of extremist groups, an explanation of their appeal, and an update on their current status. The study is being held in Fellowship Hall on Wednesdays at 6:15pm.
