College Care Packages

College Care Packages
The fall semester is winding down and it’s time for finals.  On Sunday, December 14th, the college ministry will host our Prayer & Pancakes event where students will receive finals care packages. We are in need of individually packaged treats (such as snack crackers, candy, microwave popcorn, gum, mints, etc.) to put in the packages.  These items should be brought to the church office by December 8th.  We also need homemade cookies/brownies (packaged 4-6 cookies in zippered sandwich bags) to put in the care packages.  If you can help out, please bring your cookies/brownies to the church office receptionist desk on Sunday morning, December 14th.

Christmas Project Wish Lists

Make a Child’s Wish Come True!

With the holiday season soon approaching, many low-income families are wondering how they can afford Christmas gifts for their children this year.  Young children especially can’t understand why Santa didn’t come.  This Christmas you can make a child’s wish come true by picking up a child’s personal “Wish List” as part of the Calvary Christmas Project.
“Wish Lists” will be available on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings.  Purchase a gift from the list and return it to Calvary (UNWRAPPED) by November 30.
This is also a wonderful opportunity to teach our children and grandchildren the true meaning of Christmas—it truly is more blessed to give than
receive.  For more information on how you can be involved in the Christmas Project you can call the church office or email:

ROC Volunteers Needed (November-March)

Calvary has partnered with Glendover Basketball League this basketball season. We are going to have 450 plus families using the ROC. That is exciting news for Calvary!

We want to be great hosts to new families entering our building. Calvary needs YOU to share the gift of a smile and hospitality. YOU will be working at the front desk to greet and to help with simple directions. It is very important that we have a strong Calvary presence!
Here are the time when YOU are needed:

Thursdays     6-8 pm
Saturdays      8-10 am
                      10 am-12 pm

Room In The Inn Needs

Winter is coming!  We need to be ready to help take care of our homeless.  Here are some important items we need at the ROC and for Room in the Inn:  socks, gloves, jackets, scarves, razors, body wash, shampoos, and shaving cream.

Please drop off items at the ROC desk or at the Donation Station in EB2.

Join the Choir

Do you enjoy singing Christmas music? Then join the choir as we prepare for the Advent and Christmas seasons!

Join us on Saturday, September 20 from 9:30am-12pm as preview the Christmas Music. We will meet in Fellowship Hall where breakfast will be served prior to rehearsal. Hope you will join us. If you have questions, please contact Becky Miller or Kevin Raybuck.

Donations Needed for Chrysalis House

The Chrysalis House is a nonprofit organization that helps women with substance abuse problems get back on their feet and they are right at Calvary's back door. Many of the women in the program come to the ROC for exercise and recreation, as well as volunteering at the ROC. Calvary has a small closet where we are able to provide clothing and miscellaneous items for these women and their children. The new or gently used items needed are listed below:

Women's fall/winter clothing
Bath and body items
Purses and shoes
Winter clothing for children babies through 4T
Small toys or books for children through age 4

Items can be taken to the ROC office or dropped off at the Donation Station. Contact Brian Varble or Maurine Mitchell for more information.

Cookie Bakers Needed for College Ministry

The College Ministry needs volunteers to bake cookies for our weekly Cookie Ministry.  Everyone knows that college students love homemade treats so each week we deliver cookies to our first time college visitors.  The obligation is to bring 2-3 dozen homemade cookies to the church office on your designated Sunday (one time each semester).  We package and deliver them to the students.  Just sign up and we'll mail you a Cookie Ministry schedule as well as a reminder card on your designated week.  It's an easy way to share God's love with students who are far from home and looking to connect with a church in Lexington.
