Sunday at Calvary 8/19/18

Worship with us this Sunday! Dr. Baker continues his "Remaining C.A.L.M. in a Chaotic World" series with the sermon, "Ask God for Help," inspired in part by Max Lucado's Anxious for Nothing. There are three worship services at Calvary this week: Early Worship at 8:30, The Summit at 10:45, and Traditional Worship at 11:00. Our scripture readings will be Psalm 86:1-10 and Philippians 4:14-13. At 11:00 worship, the Sanctuary Choir will sing the peaceful "Gaelic Blessing" by John Rutter. You can read Dr. Baker's 8/16/18 Pastor's Paragraph with the Philippians verse challenge, a few reflections, and information on next week's Combined Worship and Special Called Business Meeting. The 11:00 worship bulletin can be found here. All are invited to the Deacon Ordination ceremony at 6:00pm in the Sanctuary.

Back to School Prayer 8/14/18

It seems as if we've been here before, and we have.  A new school year is beginning. It is an exciting time. Teachers and administrators and support staff are welcoming boys and girls, middle schoolers and high school students, college and graduate students.  The educational process continues, even as it begins again.  We pray this day for every educator, every student, every administrator, every member of support teams, every bus driver, every crossing guard.  We pray especially today for those in the Calvary family who are such a key part of this amazing educational effort.  Give them a sense of your presence as they teach, as they learn, as they meet new students, as they meet new friends.  Strengthen  them for the journey, and empower them to grow in wisdom, in stature, and in favor with You, Lord God, and with all those they encounter.  This we pray in Jesus name, Amen.
