WANTED: TOYS, CLOTHING & MORE! On December 16th the Calvary Christmas Project families are invited to shop for clothing, toys and household items when they come to receive their food and gift boxes. Your “gently used” children’s toys, housewares and clothing are very much appreciated by these families.
Clothing should be laundered, in good repair, and placed on wire hangers. Toys should be clean and undamaged. Small games and puzzles need to be bagged; complete with no missing pieces. Household items, electronics, furniture and appliances must be clean and in working order.
Also needed are new packages of underwear and socks for all ages. Disposable diapers and Pull-up training pants are also requested.
Donations may be dropped off in the basement of Calvary’s Education Building 2 now through December 13th.
With donations already coming in, we need volunteers on Wednesday evenings to help sort and box these items!
——-Calvary Christmas Project 2017——-
Since 1975 Calvary Baptist Church has reached out to families in need throughout our community. What began as a single class project serving 8 families has now grown to an average of 150 families served each year. With over 250 multi-generational volunteers giving hundreds of volunteer hours throughout the year, this church-wide project is at the heart of Calvary’s mission as a “Christ filled church.”
*On average 475 children receive Christmas gifts from their personal “Wish Lists” that are purchased and wrapped by members of the Calvary family.
*Families receive Food Boxes filled with a ham, assorted canned and boxed goods, bread, milk, juice, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, and margarine. They also receivelaundry detergent & personal items that include soap, shampoo, toothpaste & toothbrushes. We are grateful to Smucker’s, Kroger, Meijer’s, and others for merchandise/donations toward these expenses.
*Funds to purchase these items come directly from your designated gifts to the Calvary Christmas Project. Approximately $20,000 per year is needed to provide for the families we serve over and above the “Wish List” gifts.
Special Christmas Project offering envelopes will be available in the pews beginning on Sunday, November 5th for your designated gifts. A special offering will be taken at the end of the church service on Sunday, December 3rd for the Christmas Project.
