On Wednesday evening, March 15, our church will be participating in a city-wide event called “On The Table.” Sponsored by the Bluegrass Family Foundation, this event is designed to bring Lexingtonians together in small groups (gathered around a table for a meal) to discuss the issues – big and small – that impact the quality of life for those who live in our community. Through these small group discussions which will take place on March 15th throughout our city, people will have the opportunity to discuss not only what’s great about our community, but ways to make our community even better.
Questions which will be discussed during these “On The Table” gatherings include:
1) What would you say if you were bragging on Lexington?
2)What are the biggest issues our community faces?
3) What are the best ways for us to work on these issues?
4) How can we work together to improve our neighborhoods?
Our church has agreed to be a “Super Host” for this event which means that we will have from 20 -25 tables in our church fellowship hall devoted to the “On The Table” discussions. Let me encourage you to come and enjoy a wonderful fellowship dinner (dinner served from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.) and then participate in the small group discussions which will follow from 6:15 p.m. – 7:15p.m. Feel free to invite a friend or neighbor to come and participate in this event with you.
Scott Fitzpatrick, the Vice President of Advancement for Bluegrass CommunityFoundation and an active member of our church, will be on hand to help lead us in this important “On The Table” event. Reports and feedback from all of these March 15 “On The Table” discussions will be collected and used to inform our city’s Comprehensive Plan (called Imagine Lexington).
I hope to see many of you in our Fellowship Hall on Wednesday night March 15 as we discuss ways to make our wonderful community an even better community. So please join many of your fellow church members on March 15 for “On The Table.”
