Calvary Covers in Prayer
May 2022 Prayer Emphasis
Join Calvary as we pray together for matters that are important for all of God’s people: family, education, church, country and global missions. For five weeks beginning May 8, we invite you to pray especially for the theme of the week. Calvary’s Prayer Team has written some prayers to help guide your prayer time.
May 8 week (Mother’s Day) – Family
Dear Lord, please bless our families, for they sustain us and make our lives meaningful. Please bless each individual family member, and help us be thankful for the richness of the gifts they bring us. Finally, please bless our church family, which offers us both solace and encouragement, and nurtures our souls. We ask this in Jesus’s name. Amen.

May 15 week – Education
Lord, our children and their educators have certainly felt the weight of our world’s issues over the past couple of years, and our schools are still picking up the pieces. We pray that you would strengthen educators, renew their energy and their purpose, and give them perseverance. We pray for students who feel academically behind, who struggle with mental illness, who aren’t sure where they fit in socially, that our schools would be a place of safety, love, and confidence-building for them. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

May 22 week – Our nation
Heavenly Father, thank You for the blessing of calling the United States of America our home, a nation founded on the principles of worshipping You and trusting in You. You have showered us with goodness.
We humbly come before You and ask for Your forgiveness for the ways we have turned away from You and to our own ways, neglected Your Word, and disregarded the teachings of Jesus.
Lord God, we lift up the leaders of America to You in prayer and ask that You would work in these men and women and give them hearts and minds yielded to You, choosing to seek guidance from You and the knowledge of Your will.
We trust in You Lord, Your wisdom, power and perfect love.
In the Name of Jesus Christ our Savior. AMEN.

May 29 week – Our church
We should pray that:
God will protect us from all evil by His power, sanctify us by His Truth, that we would be one and live in pure love for one another (John 17: 11 – 26)
God will give the members of the church the spirit of wisdom, revelation in the knowledge of Him (Eph. 1:17-19)
We would speak evil of no one, shoe perfect courtesy, exercise discipline as necessary and handle confrontations biblically (Titus 3:2; Matt. 18: 15-17)
We would be enabled and inspired to use our spiritual gifts for service (1 Peter 4:10-11)

June 4 week (World Missions Day) – Missions and Evangelism
On this day, O Lord, I pray that Your Word will go out to the ends of the earth, for now is the day of Salvation. May it be proclaimed through music and song that stirs the souls of men and women and draws them to You. May continual praise be lifted to You in every time zone throughout the day as Your light dispels the darkness.
May Your message of love and reconciliation through Christ be preached in power and strength in every language of every nation.
May each of Your children be busy about their Father’s business with a faith that does not falter. May new laborers answer Your call.
May the Good News be as newsworthy as the front page of today’s paper. May it be a topic of discussion among the rich and the poor, the powerful and the weak.
May it shatter every barrier and capture every heart. And may people everywhere bow and confess that Jesus is Lord, Amen.
