For 55 years, High St. Neighborhood Center (HSNC) has been a joint mission of Calvary and our friends down the street, First United Methodist Church. What a blessing HSNC has been to so many families who need affordable care for their children. (To read more about the history and mission of HSNC click HERE.) While the support of the churches is invaluable, HSNC could also use individual support.
There are multiple ways you can make an impact at HSNC:
  • Do you have a career or hobby that you could share with the children? Perhaps you enjoy gardening, play an instrument, work as a first-responder, and could participate in a hands-on demonstration or project with the kids. What has God given you a passion for or gifted you to share?
  • Come be a guest reader in one of our classrooms. The children always enjoy a great story and you can make a connection with them and the staff. This could be a one-time experience or something you choose to do regularly.
  • Help replace/ purchase books, art supplies, and broken toys from the wish lists we provide throughout the year. During the month of March, we are collecting books using our Amazon wish list the teachers have helped create. Perhaps you could purchase a book or two? Access the list here.
  • Help us execute special events such as the promotion ceremony in May, the Back-To-School Bash in August, and Thanksgiving lunch for the children and their families in November. We need help serving food, setting up and tearing down, making goodie bags, and coming alongside our HSNC staff and Board to make these days memorable and meaningful for our HSNC families.
Again, reach out to Sandra Palmer with questions or offers to volunteer, and plan to stop by the HSNC table following worship on Sunday, March 3.
