During this time, Calvary continues to try to remain missional and meet the needs of our community.  Here are some opportunities for Calvary to serve. Please contact Brian Varble for details on any of these opportunities.

As you know Richie Ward lost a hard fought battle to cancer in March.  Richie was very inspirational to our youth group and church as he continued to be strong and share a positive outlook of live, evening during the final days of his life.  To help to continue Richies legacy and to continue the battle against cancer we are collecting age appropriate hygiene items for teenages and young adults who have may have an unexpected stay in the hospital.  Here is the list of items we will be collecting through the month of August.
The Grace Place
The Lexington Rescue Mission will open The Grace Place in September.  This is going to be transitional housing for women recovering from drug abuse, transitioning from homelessness, and escaping domestic violence.  The house will be located on South Mill and High Street.  The Grace Place will be in our neighborhood.  As I get more information about their needs I will share with our congregation. I ask for you to pray about how Calvary can partner with this new ministry.
Build a Bed
We still have beds to build.  We will have another round of Build a Bed in August.  We always have a wonderful community as we build.  I am excited about getting back together to serve our community in such a practical way.
God’s Pantry
We continue to serve God’s Pantry every Tuesday and Thursday 2:30-4:30 at Saint Luke’s United Methodist on Alumni.  We load the cars in the parking lot, we wear masks and gloves, while staying socially distanced.  God’s Pantry has recently opened up to people of all ages are able to serve as volunteers.  I currently have a very committed group of teachers however this will change once school starts.  I will need some new faces to help with this ministry.
Meals on Wheels
Calvary is always looking for individuals to serve Meals on Wheel.  There are several openings throughout the month.  Calvary serves Monday-Friday 11:00-12:30.  We meet at Trinity Baptist Church on Strader Avenue (off of Winchester road).  The route usually runs between an hour to an hour and a help.  Please contact Cyndi Allen (859-229-3709) or Brian Varble if you are able to serve.
Continued Prayers
Mission is very relational.  During this time it is a challenge to be relational, as we are encouraged to be isolated.  Please join me in prayer as we seeks ways to be relational and share the love of God through our missions during these unprecedented days.
JOY,
bv
