Monday Missional Musings
March 8, 2021

Let me be vulnerable for a moment. Most days, I take advantage of working in a facility with a weight room and head up to work out between 4:30 and 5:00. I usually leave my office and tell the ROC worker that I’m heading up to work out. However, what they do not know is that I always go to the third floor and take a 15-20 minute power nap (I am the master of the power nap! That was a pleasant gift from my father). I rest until 5:00 and use the church bells as my alarm. Last week I was gently awakened by the bells playing, “I Love to Tell the Story,” one of my favorite hymns. I remember my mother and her sisters singing this song whenever they were together. As I was slowing waking up, I started to sing the words and was blessed with wonderful memories.

I love to tell the story
Of unseen things above
Of Jesus and his glory
Of Jesus and his love

I love to tell the story
Because I know ’tis true
It satisfies my longings
As nothing else can do

I love to tell the story
‘Twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old, old story
Of Jesus and his love

I love to tell the story
For those who know it best
Seem hungering and thirsting
To hear it like the rest

And when in scenes of glory
I sing the new, new song
‘Twill be the old, old story
That I have loved so long

Throughout the workout the lyrics were on my heart and reminded me of our calling to share this precious story. As we are on mission we continue to share this story. Every time we make a bed, deliver a meal, collect diapers, respond to a disaster, build a home or provide medical care we tell this story of Jesus and His love.

It is my prayer through sharing this wonderful story, we create our own stories to share. It is our experiences and stories that are relevant and provides a new personal touch to this life changing story.

I hope you join us on Saturday for Mission Blitz Day, 9:00-noon.
