LOVE ONE ANOTHER
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it. Love your neighbor as yourself.”
On this National Day of Prayer, May 7, 2020, your Calvary Prayer Team invites you to join in the tradition that Abraham Lincoln began in 1863 and take a few minutes out of your day today to pray as the psalmist did:
“Evening, morning, and noon I will pray, and cry aloud, And He will hear my voice.” Psalm 55:17
Pray alone, with a friend or with your family at a meal. Use these prayers or come up with your own. God loves you and longs to hear the sincere prayers of His people.
On this National Day of Prayer in our country we acknowledge we are shaken to our very core by the global pandemic we are facing. Today, we lift up those people who are sick and infected from the Corona virus. We ask you God, to heal and help them to regain their strength and to sustain their bodies and spirits through good healthcare. We pray for our vulnerable populations and ask for protection for our elderly and those suffering from chronic diseases and the immune compromised. We pray for those who feel isolated, anxious, and helpless and ask that You provide them the necessary support. Be with the families of those who are sick or have died. As they worry and grieve, defend them from this illness and despair. May they know Your peace. God, we boldly ask for the containment and the spread of the virus and that you give us a strong desire and willingness to do our part to protect, love and care for “our neighbor”.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen
“Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.” Jeremiah 17:14
Our Heavenly Father, we pray for all of the dedicated doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals who are on the front lines battling the Corona virus. We pray that You will strengthen them as they fight to save lives and to comfort those who are ill and dying. God, keep them safe and healthy. Please give them hope. God, deliver them from anxiety for their own loved ones (aging parents, children, spouses, roommates) and keep their families safe and healthy. God, give them compassion for every patient in their care. We also pray for those in research who are diligently working to find better treatments for this disease and to create an effective vaccine. You are in control, Father, and we pray that all of these workers will look to you for guidance.
In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
“…but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31
We praise You for Your perfect wisdom, perfect ways, perfect timing, and perfect love. Our hearts are full of gratitude for the grace and mercy You have bestowed on the United States of America throughout our history and that You continue to watch over us today. You are our Rock and our Fortress.
We lift up the leaders of our nation to You in prayer and ask that You, O Lord, would impart Your wisdom to these men and women during this critical time. We pray for President Trump, Vice-President Pence, the members of the Coronavirus Task Force, Governor Beshear and all of the governors. Please grant them guidance and direction to make decisions which are best for the welfare of America and according to Your will. Draw them to yourself Father and, by the power of the Spirit, give them hearts and ears that are attentive to Your voice.
We trust confidently in Your wisdom, Your power, and Your goodness.
Thank You Father for Your faithfulness.
In the Name of our precious Savior, Jesus Christ, AMEN.
“But if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach.” James 1:5
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.” Psalms 32:8
What a joy it has been throughout this day to come to you, to worship you in prayer. We pray for all the countries of the world where people are suffering as a result of the Corona virus. We pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ both here and abroad to bring them the Good News of Jesus Christ and a model of love for their neighbors, as You loved us. We pray for Christian missionaries throughout the world, especially in areas with high rates of infection: God, provide them with words of hope, and equip them to love and serve those around them. We pray that You will use this time of a global pandemic to open hearts and minds to Christ, the true Prince of Peace. And finally, we ask that your Holy Spirit inspire us, as Christians, to pray, give, love, serve, and share the Good News in every neighborhood, community and city in our country and around the world as we to give this hurting world a glimpse of you. O Lord, grant us wisdom and courage for the living of these days.
In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8
