Habitat for Humanity Lexington
Build Opportunity

Calvary is excited to be rejoining a partnership with Lexington Habitat for Humanity and participate in their 500th home build! Not only is it exciting to participate in this milestone build with Habitat Lexington, but the homeowner of the build is Marsha, who joined Hank and Linda Ellington in teaching some of our Calvary Kids about Habitat at Vacation Bible School this summer! You can read all about Marsha and her journey with Habitat here.

Calvary’s build dates are Friday, September 20, and Friday, September 27, from 8:30AM-3:30PM each day (and they would prefer if you sign up that you stay the whole time if at all possible). We need to bring approximately 10 volunteers on each of those days. People of all skill levels are invited and you will not have to use tools you are uncomfortable with – they will find a job for anyone who signs up. If you have construction skills, then great! Sign up and use them! Habitat provides all the tools, safety equipment, and water. Our work is part of Phase 1, which is the Construction phase, which involves things like framing, putting up the roof trusses, siding, so there will be work which requires power tools and climbing ladders, etc. Volunteers should be 18 years of age or older, though there is very limited space for a few 16-17 year olds.* Please find detailed sign up information below.

Click HERE to sign up. (You will need to create an account with username and password. While creating the account, under the “Qualifications” pull down menu, select “Calvary Baptist Church.” After that, go back into your account and under the “Opportunities” tab, select the calendar for September and click on one or both of our dates to sign up.) Please do not hesitate to contact Chuck Powell if you would like help signing up.

*We can only accommodate 4 total volunteers ages 16-17, and only if they are accompanied by a guardian and have had a guardian sign a waiver (included in the volunteer login above). Any minor on the build site cannot use power tools or be on a ladder. This does limit what they can do during phase 1, but they are still more than welcome to participate, and we will find a job for them.
