Calvary is partnering with the Ward Family to collect toiletry items for teenagers who unexpectedly have to stay at the UK Children’s Hospital Dance Blue Clinic. Please see the information from Jennifer Ward below:

While Richie loved our wonderful staff at UK Children’s Hospital and the DanceBlue clinic, he struggled when being admitted to the hospital. One of his biggest objections were the toiletries provided. Though thankful to have something over nothing, he really wasn’t happy with brushing his teeth with bubblefruit toothpaste and trying to wash all of himself (hair included) with a travel sized bottle of baby shampoo. We were very fortunate to be close to home and a 2 parent family. Unfortunately, many of our clinic families do not have that blessing. A large number of our patient families are coming from hours away to visit the clinic and many are single parents. Often, they come to the clinic hoping for a simple checkup and check in but end up being admitted instead. They are far from home and unable to go back and get the things they may want or need. With the help of our wonderful village, we want to create toiletry bags that contain items better suited to the teens and young adults such as deodorant and shaving cream. We have created an Amazon wish list for those who may want to order and have the items shipped to us directly, however, there is also a general list available and a collection bin will be placed in the church to drop donations. If everyone could pick up an extra bottle of shampoo or body wash while buying groceries, we can supply each young person the gift of items picked just for them!
