Calvary Receives Citation and Acclamation in Recognition of 150th Anniversary

Calvary Baptist Church celebrates 150 years of ministry in Lexington, Kentucky in 2025. Calvary kicked off its sesquicentennial year with a Founders’ Day Worship service on January 26, 2025. During the service, Calvary was presented with a Citation of Celebration from the Kentucky House of Representatives from Calvary member and House of Representatives member, Ruth Ann Palumbo. The Citation reads, in part,

“…This beloved institution occupies a special place in the history of the Lexington and Fayette County communities and is celebrated as its members come together to commemorate the many obstacles that have been overcome and triumphs that have been enjoyed over the course of this church’s extraordinary history. Inasmuch as the dedicated congregation and pastorate of this cherished institution have faithfully provided spiritual guidance and support that have touched the lives of countless people over the past 150 years and have greatly contributed to the spiritual health and well-being of this community…”

Calvary also received an Acclamation from the Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Andy Beshear, in recognition of 150 years of service and ministry in the Commonwealth. The Acclamation reads, in part,

“…Calvary Baptist Church continues to be a cornerstone of the Lexington community through its various mission and outreach projects, including Mission Health Lexington offering free medical services, High Street Neighborhood Center offering pre-school and weekday childcare services, and Calvary Christmas Project aiding families in need; and
Generations of church members, ministers, and community leaders have undoubtedly been positively impacted by the enduring outreach and ministry of Calvary Baptist Church;…”
